From the Pastor's Heart

Prayer is a vital part of just existing in this cruel and unjust world that we are living in.  The scripture records for us to read, the life of one called Saul of Tarsus.  Saul was raised and taught at the feet of Gamaliel.  This guy must have been some great teacher.  However, when you look at the record of the prayer life of this student Saul, there is none to be found.  There is no record of Saul of Tarsus ever praying until his Damascus Road experience.  Then it is quite interesting to note the kind of prayer that he prayed.

Don’t forget with me about the teaching of this man Saul.  We understand that Saul could fluently speak 17 different dialects.  Therefore, had Saul formed his prayer previously, within the bounds of his education, he could have used some eloquent words with great dignity. However, the words used were mere common conversation of a lesser one to a greater one.  Saul had met his match for Acts 9:5-6 records “And He said, who are thou, Lord?....And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”

Isn’t it amazing what a little talk with Jesus will do?  Once you come in contact with Him, you will never be the same AGAIN. He will change your don’t’ care attitude to one of concern.  Isn’t it amazing the difference in most of the conversions of today in comparison to the one that Saul received?  The first concern of Saul of Tarsus was “What wilt thou have me to do?”  Friends, don’t let Leroy have your ball!  You grab that ball and run with it for all you’ve god, because time is running out.  Don’t wait for someone else to visit – “YOU VISIT!”  Don’t wait for someone else to witness – “YOU DO IT!”  Don’t let anyone steal your crown and glory from you; you maintain your relationship with the Christ of Calvary and do what He asks you to do.

Prayer changes things and prayer changes lives.  “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person availeth much.”

            MAY GOD BLESS YOU RICHLY!
