THE MIRACLE OF BELIEF

Romans 13:11

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep:  For now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

In the hustle and bustle of this time of the year, have you slowed down long enough to consider the miracles that are connected with Christmas?  While there are too many to name them all, may I just have a few and elaborate.

The first miracle is naturally the love of God.  He so loved that He gave.  We must also recognize the miracle of the virgin birth and the willingness that Mary had for God Almighty to perform his work in her life.  Then if Christ had not loved on the fashion of his father we would still be lost in our sins.  However, Christ so loved that He gave his life on Calvary where each of us could live.  Because of these events, and others, you and I also have the opportunity to accept the miracles of belief, even in the seemingly impossible.

While Mary gets all excited about the news and stands in awe at the marvelous news, Joseph takes a look from a different angle.  Joseph was a strong man who was laboring for a respectable future and he and Mary as worked in the carpenter shop – AND NOW THIS!

While Mary’s thoughts were on angels and visions, Joseph‘s thought of the disgrace that would be theirs.  Their lives would never be the same; therefore, Joseph decided to put her away.  It was then that an angel of the Lord came to Joseph and quelled all of his fears and allowed him to know that God was working through their lives for the sake of the whole world.

Just as Joseph was first skeptical of the whole idea, so are there those who are yet skeptical of the virgin birth of Christ.  This is where God lets the miracle of faith and belief enters into our hearts.  May you believe today in the Christ of Christmas.
